Healthy Tips for Dealing with the Coronavirus Quarantine

We’re all in different levels of quarantine and it’s hard. All people are trying to stay inside, unless it’s a requirement, like getting medication, food, going to the doctor’s, or walking their dogs. The stress of staying inside and watching cases and the death toll rise across the globe can have negative consequences on your health. Here are some tips on how to stay healthy and deal with the crisis:
– Take care of your mental and physical wellbeing.
– Eat healthy to improve your immunity.
– Limit your alcoholic and sugary drinks.
– Drink at least 2L of water per day; make sure that the urine color is light.
– Avoid smoking. It can aggravate COVID-19 symptoms and increase your risk of getting critically ill.
– Wash your hands correctly and frequently.
– Don’t touch your face, in case you didn’t wash your hands.
– Make sure you get enough sleep (6 to 8 hours/day).
– Exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes/day for adults and an hour/day for kids.
– If you’re permitted to go outside, go for a walk, run or bike ride while maintaining a safe distance from others.
– If you can’t leave the house, use that treadmill you have at home or dance, do some yoga or walk up and down the stairs.
– If you are working from home, avoid sitting too long in the same position.
– Get a 3-minute break every 30 minutes.
– Listen to music, play a game, read a book, try recipes or learn something new.
It’s normal to feel stressed, scared and confused during a crisis, that’s why talking to people you know and trust can help. However, try not to read or watch too much news if it makes you feel anxious and in case of need, get your information from reliable sources.
