Tips to read food labels
- Start by looking at the serving size: Packages frequently contain more than a single serving. You may have to multiply all of the amounts listed
- Look for foods with zero trans fats
- Minimize Sodium: The recommended maximum daily intake of sodium is 2,300 mg per day
- Choose complex carbohydrates like fibers, and keep added sugars to minimum
- Avoid having foods that contain more than 5 ingredients, artificial ingredients, or ingredients you can’t pronounce
