Tips to read food labels
  • Start by looking at the serving size: Packages frequently contain more than a single serving. You may have to multiply all of the amounts listed
  • Look for foods with zero trans fats
  • Minimize Sodium: The recommended maximum daily intake of sodium is 2,300 mg per day
  • Choose complex carbohydrates like fibers, and keep added sugars to minimum
  • Avoid having foods that contain more than 5 ingredients, artificial ingredients, or ingredients you can’t pronounce
