Summer Steps for Healthy Living

Summer Steps for Healthy Living

In the hot days of summer, the living might not be easy, but you will most probably have a less chaotic life. That’s why it is a perfect time to improve your health.

Here are some tips that can help you do small changes this season:

1. Stress Less
Planting a small garden can help you relieve stress, or if  your space is limited, plant a few flower pots indoors or out.
Just putting your hands in soil can relieve mental and physical stress.

2. Give Your Diet a Berry Boost
Improve your diet this summer by having a cup of mixed fresh berries, strawberries, blackberries and blueberries. They are filled with antioxidants, which prevents damage to tissues.
Berries are also rich in fiber, which keeps cholesterol levels low and might even help in preventing some cancers.

3. Get Outside to Exercise
Choose an outdoor activity like going on a hike, taking a walk, cycling, roller blading, or swimming to burn some calories and stay fit.
And remember, the family that plays together stays fit together and bonds more.

4. Vacation Time!
Going on a Vacation can have multiple health benefits such as lowering your blood pressure, heart rate, and stress hormones such as cortisol that can increase the risk of heart disease.

5. Go Lite on Alcohol
During summer skip drinks with hard alcohol and choose light, chilled alcoholic beverages. Have a glass of Sangria, a cold beer, or a wine spritzer they are all refreshing but don’t forget to have them all in moderation.

6. Sleep Well
Don’t be tempted stay up later during long summer days. Instead pay attention to good sleep routine by keeping the same bedtime and wake-up schedule and try not to drink alcohol within three hours of bedtime.

Those were very simple ways to boost your health this summer. Try one or try them all!
